How to rotate a loaded family in Elevation view plane?

Hi,

I've just got familiar with Revit and am not professional user of this software.

I've made a triangular pyramid model as a family using Component Model in Place and loaded it to a 3d model of a bridge, and located in a right place (West/Eest surface of the bridge). Now the orientation of the trihedral should be matched to the reality, I have the angle between side-planes and the West/East plane of the bridge, and the angle between the base-plane and the horizontal. For making the first one, I defined a reference plane in the one of the floorplan views with a right angle w.r.t the bridge East surface and then pick that reference plane for the trihedral, so you can see the results in the attached pictures (floorplan and east elevation view of the bridge project). But, my issue is orientation of the base plane w.r.t the horizontal. Could anyone of you please advise how I can set this?  I attached some pictures to better presentation of my question.

Thanks,

Zahra

Hi Mirko,

I need to scale the adaptive family file to a larger size for the same purpose, could you please let me know if/how I can do so? The scale tools is deactivated.

Thanks,

You will need to edit nested family inside of the adaptive family.

Nested family is your original family, you can find it in project browser in adaptive family, under Families tree.

  1. In adaptive family, right click on nested pyramid family, and choose "Edit family".
  2. Change the size there (you will need to remodel it, you can't just "scale" 3d models in Revit).
  3. Then load it back into adaptive family.
  4. If you need to keep both, old size of pyramid and new pyramid, save adaptive family with a new name before loading it into your project.
  5. Load that adaptive family to your project and place it where needed.
