How to make white lines not print?

Anonymous

Hi,

I used detail lines as points to reference to for my dimension stringers, but when I print they are printed similar to a hidden line. I do not want this as the whole idea was for them to not print and allow my dimensions to be from the correct location. Either how can I fix this or use my dimensions properly? I will attach an image using red lines instead of white just for clarification, and you can see how without using these lines the points referenced make the dimension not be parallel with my rafter, which is what I am trying to accomplish.

Thanks

Try this:

Use reference planes instead of white lines to dimension to--then in print settings, check box for hide reference planes.

Can't you use the Tab key to select the end points that you want to pull the dimension from?

No that doesn't necessarily work, as you can see in my image

It should, but you can always define a strong reference in the family that will be detected in the Project.  For instance, Ref. Lines have an end point.

I see, I am fairly new to family creation so I'm sure I am not doing everything 100% correct/efficient yet but thanks for the input

It may work in some cases.  See screencast.

I don't think you need to modify the family, @Anonymous.  Just press the Tab to cycle to and select the end point, which is represented as a very small blue dot. It tricky but doable.

...Ha! Can't even see it in this photo. But it's there. Promise. This is a close-up of the ridge in my above post.
