How to edit glazing data?

Is it possible to edit the glazing data included in the analytic construction catergory of curtain panel families?  There appears to be a pulldown with a preset listing including some proprietary glazing designs, however, there doesn't appear to be a way to edit the values or access the library of types.

Hi Stewart,

I know you can change Material properties for Curtain Wall's glazing as Transparency, Physical and Thermal settings. What do you exactly mean? Can you send a screenshot with the window you're trying to access?

The attached screen shot will show the parameter I would like to edit.  These include Visible Light Transmittance and Solar Heat Gain Coefficient.  These parameter are governed by the Analytic Construction selection.  I have not yet found a way to edit the Analytic Construction listing as it seems to be preset values that are system driven.

To edit that info, you're going to have to go into the material editor, find the glazing material that's being used, and then edit the data in the Physical and Thermal tabs.

The material editor in both Physical and Themal tabs do not have the parameters I am looking for.  The parameters I am looking to edit seem to only exist in the System Panel Family.  The See attached screenshots of available parametersi n the material editor:

Hi Stewart,

Ok, so we're talking about very different things (materials and analytic properties), I understand now.

It seems like you are trying to edit the System Panel, Glazed family.

Now, starting from the screenshot you sent, the Analytic Construction field is a drop-down, right?

If you change the value there, do those below change as well?

I was able to change the value and duplicate the family but those fields seem to always be grayed out and change only depending on the field above (Analytic Construction).

What would you like to do? Are you looking for a specific set of values?

Yes, I am looking to edit the grayed values  The drop down menu has a set of options with different SHGC and Visible light data and, depending on which one is selected, determines the grayed values.  I would like to be able to edit those fields, even if that means I need to add an option to the Analytic Construction drop down.  I am, however, unsure of how to add a drop down option.  These values represent data that our MEP consultant uses for energy modeling and I would like to have the opportunity to record these values.  None of the drop down options exactly represent the values I would like to use based of our actual glass selection.

Stewart,

I tried to work on this with Materials, as @rosskirby suggested, but I wasn't able to find the same settings nor link them to your family.

I wouldn't expect the program to give an option to modify/add a drop-down option since there is already a list and we would have probably been able to do it if it was part of the usabilty of the program. I found however, a post that seems related and that mentions a way to do it, but it does imply modifying the program.

Another way is to look into a forum like,The Building Coder.

I am trying to find other results on this, as for example requests to add this to a future release but haven't really found this exact scenario yet.

For the moment you could check this options, see if anyone else has an answer and for the future add this as feedback for Revit.

Hope this helps.

See attached screen shot for exerpt from the construction.xml file found in the Program Files directory.  You can see there are values for the particular window types.  I suppose I could copy and edit one of these although I don't have the solar incident angle data.  I assume this data ultimately works its way into the energy analysis calculations?  Would be nice if there were a simpler way to edit these values.  Thanks for your help!

I understand. I submitted this, you can do the same here.
