Hello,
I'm looking for a way to disable shadows completely from my elevation views in Realistic display mode in Revit 2023. My ambient shadows are turned off.
This is the elevation I get
My colours are dull in revit 2023.
For the same materiels in Revit 2020, and the same realistic modal display also with similar sun setting
I get this vivid colours,
How do I get the same in Revit 2023?
Go to graphic display options and change settings. Things like shadows, lighting and exposure can bring it to something you prefer.
You can use the settings in a view template. If you do this in your project template you will have your preferences for all your projects.

Please mention Revit version, especially when uploading Revit files.
I've tried adjusting these settings, It does marginally improve the colours in some elevation view
But like you said when I apply it to templates, is some views it completely blanches the wall because the sun is too bright. Also it is difficult for me to adjust the sun for every view as there are many. Again, should there be a way to completely disable any shadows in realistic view? Thank you
I believe this is something that is currently on the roadmap, so hopefully it'll come in a R23 update, or at least R24.
I believe my situation is just getting worse.. now there are these wierd shadows
I have seen this behaviour before. It seems sometimes the view gets "stuck" and you get weird artifacts. A Revit restart will usually help.
And yes also try the other settings (ambient shadows, shadows, exposure control and so on). It becomes a bit like a render engine, trial and error to get a setting you like and which probably not will work in all situations/positions.
Otherwise you will have to go back to shaded views or you might go to a sophisticated render engine. All depends on your needs.

Maybe the surface is too Thin. It's a known issue. Hide what's under it or make the surface that's acting transparent thicker.
Hard to know for sure without examining the file. Post it here and let us see if it's replicable on our end.
...try disabling hardware acceleration.
Hi,
this is a weak spot of Revit. Orthogonal 2D views are using 3D lighting, which makes it quite tricky to set up. If you don't use materials with textures, try using Shaded or Consistent colors visual styles.
I have created tutorial on how to create elevation views with textures, you might find it useful:

Thank you for your message, I tried disabling hardware accelerations in the options and did a revit 2023 restart, it did not really solve the problem.
Hi,
sometimes these weird artefacts show up even though shadows are turned off. You can move them by changing the sun position (but you cannot remove them). You can also try moving your cut plane closer or farther from the objects with artefacts.

Can you share your file here because I can't replicate the issue. Below are from various shadowing configurations (modeled provided by a fellow on the forum, I just borrowed it to demonstrate there are no issues).
