How to create small exterior steps that is on the same Level...?

Hi all,

I have a question here, hopefully someone can help me out. Basically, I have 2 floors on the same level but of differing height (approximately 1200mm difference). Hence I would like to create a small step that will step downwards of 1200mm to another floor that is on the same level.

May I know how do I do it? As attached is a picture depicting my question:

Stairs to same level.png

In your case, you would enter 1200mm.

Create a 1200mm height stair. Uncheck end with riser.

Change the base to the level below or the top the the level above (your case: Base offset = -1200, top level = none, stair height = 1200). Or go to an elevation, select the stair, move command, check Disjoin from the option bar, and you can move it vertically .

Hi, Again 😞

Basically I did all and it works BUT Revit won't let me finish it, prompting this error:

Your screenshot shows your Stairs going from Level 1 to Level 2. I though you said your Level 1 was two different Levels; one being 1200mm higher. If so, your Stairs should go from Level 1 to Level 1 with Top Offset at 1200mm.

It looks like it's more than 1200mm.  The end riser should be closer to the top surface.

Don't move it when editing the stair. Do it outside when the stair is finished.

Hi boys!

I managed to get the stairs done! Pheww!! Now it's just the railing that doesn't join properly!!! GRRR... I will try to figure that now!

Thanks guys! 😄 Here's a pic for update:

Congrats.  Now work on that last Riser height. It's a red line waiting to happen.  If maxing out the Riser Heights doesn't do it, then you need another tread.  FWIW.

learning stairs is fun... I would be nice if you could easily modify a stair rather than having to rebuild it though.

They can be modified fairly easily. Where do you have problems with?

if i build a set of steps and want to adjust the number or risers, I'd like to be able to just ad one riser and have revit divide the rise and run to include the additional riser. it seems that Revit's way of adding the riser also changes the top of the stairway.  Clearly... i need to go play with my Legos a little more.
