How To Create Line Based LED Light Strip

Howdy!

I am trying to create a line based (or railing based) LED strip so I can make irregular shapes with it.

I found the following post however I was very confused. I tried following the instructions but it didn't work.

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit-mep-forum/flexible-led-strip-family/m-p/6535792#M34710

Does anyone have any other ideas or can better explain how to do this?

Thank you!

It is an excellent tutorial. At which step it didn't work?

Interesting tutorial, but how does it host to a ceiling, which was what the OP of the other thread asked?  Unless I'm totally missing something here; it can't host to a ceiling.

My approach would be a Repeater (the light) along a Divided Spline Line (perhaps driven and shaped by Adaptive Points).

FWIW

When doing step 2, step 5 and 6 are confusing, and when I tried my best to do everything I ended up with just a pole - no light source. I used the light source family in method one, which worked well on its own.

What worked for me was reaching out to a local LED lighting supplier. They were super helpful, suggesting different products and sharing some cool ideas. Don't worry; you'll get the hang of it!
