How to create a wall-wash effect with light source

I would like to add a light source to the attached family that makes a color glow similar to the attached image. I attempted adding a light source and making the stainless steel cylinder slightly transparent with a gradient emissivity but Enscape keeps crashing so I am looking for a better approach. Can anyone help with this?
