How to associate/schedule all elements per building? Model of 3 buildings

Hi,

We are working on Revit model with 3 small buildings (towers) in one model (they are coneccted to each other). Now we need to schedule all items per building, so we can get all windows, doors etc. schedule per building 1, building 2 etc.

What is the best, easiest way to do that? Writing Dynamo script which puts all elements in a scope box and writes a parameter with a building name? Is it possible to do it somehow with the spaces (Building 1, Building 2) and get it scheduled by that?

What is your best practices, ideas?

Thanks ins advance

I have done that by Worksets. I put each building on a separate Workset and schedule it that way.

That is not really possible in our case, we use it worksets for other purposes, to divide building elements into; main building components, loose furniture, fixed furniture etc. and control these. So it would be too much work to create many addtional worksets and divide elements to these.

Looking for other alternative

In the schedule you should be able to click on Include elements from link and then add link name to sort your building.

There are no links, all 3 buildings are in one model/file (they are connected, therefore they are not splited on 3 files)

We need to figure out what is the best way to schedule elements per building (when they are on one file).

As you get into working drawings, it is best to break the building up so it makes it easier for you to manage the schedule. If you don't want that and insist on single model, your alternative is create a parameter and set all your objects to have the same parameter. However you have to make sure you set it to vary by group type. That way when you highlight the object within group, it won't break the group. Once you add that parameter, you highlight the entire building and add in the parameter value. In the schedule you simply add that new parameter and you are able to separate the building.

Create a text instance parameter and assign it to all model categories. Then select an entire building in 3D and enter a value to that parameter. Rinse and repeat for others.
P/S: if you want to sort views/sheets per building you can assign the parameter to views/sheets as well.

Phasing Construction might work here for you as well (e.g.  Buildings 1, 2 and 3 assigned a different Phase Created from one another).  FWIW.
