How to add this repeating detail to my entablature?

I want to make a repeating cut into my Ionic entablature like in this photo. The cut would be facing south and the component was modeled in place via the east side.  How can I go about making this cut so that when I extend the entablature the cut is also made when it is extended?

Hello. There are 2 ways to do it:

1. Creating a Line-based family may solve this situation.

In the line-based family, draw the solid part, not the void part. I am not sure if a line-based voided family works with cutting. But for sure the solid one works.

2. If you only need to show this little fancy detail on 2D drawings (not 3D), try to use Detail Components.
