How to add color to a split face wall with a Tilt Panel-V-Reveal in it?

If I wanted to split face and color the portion of the wall that is in the rectangle; how would I do so without getting an error message?  Please Help.

try disallowing join at the corner return.

Accepted solution

When you do split, you technically don't need to do close loop. The wall boundary act as your boundary and all you need to do is define the split between one material face and the other.
