How outdated is my machine?

Hello everyone.

I started a new job and I believe the machine they gave me is extremely outdated.
I will be working with Revit and Autocad with potentially large projects.

Your thoughts. Thank you.

Operating System = Windows 7
Motherboard = Intel c600/x79 series chipset
Processor = Intel Xeon E5-2650 @ 2.00 GHz
CPU = Nvidia Quadro 4000 2GB
Hard Drive = 2xATA WDC 1TB SATA Drives
Memory = 32GB (not sure which DDR)

It was a decent workstation about 10 years ago.

CPU Clock speed low ..  judging from the specs you mentioned the rams has to be 1600MHz DDR4(a guess)

OS...well it will struggle  with Windows 10 ... 11 it will be dead

It's not just outdated it's a low spec data entry machine for a secretary

What version of Revit do they have you on?

I am using Revit 2020 and Autocad 2018 Architecture.

On top of that I use Bluebeam, Email and some message software.

Come on it was pretty decent in 2011 compare to the recommended specs established by Autodesk. 

32 GB RAM, 2xSSDs, Quadro 4000, not to mention the futuristic CPU (actual release date Q1 - 2012)?  I would have rocked this baby so hard 10 years ago.

But yeah, like when a person asks "how do I look?" and the answer is "you looked fine... 10 years ago", then he knows what it means.  OP will get it.

Software manufacturer minimum hardware specs are just so you can start the software, not to actually use and enjoy life. 

OP: you easily want 32GB and a modern CPU with 4+ GHz and maybe 6+ cores. Hardware is really cheap, even nowadays, compared to your time, sanity and the software cost. No one ever complained about too little memory or too fast CPU. And get a PCI-express SSD.

After bringing this issue up, I was told my machine will be upgraded or I will get a new one. The question now is what specs should I have so that I can work without slowdowns and crashing?

Looks like your workplace keeps PCs around for a long time. So get as much as you can. Future software will be better, but also more demanding.
