how often do you use vray?

Hi all,

As a 3d arch viz artist using mostly vray and making quite detailed models in Sketchup, I consider following a BIM training to broaden my skills and also because it makes more sense to model that way.

I would like to know though, following the experience of BIM modelers out there, how much do u still make use of rendering software and postproduction skills? I want to avoid loosing too much touch with my current skills because I enjoy the viz part very much...

How much depends on Project deliverable requirements.  For sure being competent with using Vray and postproduction programs is only a plus point to your portfolio.

You're kind of talking two different things here.  Building Information Modeling is what the acronym "BIM" stands for. Rendering has very little to do with BIM.

That is indeed the point of this post. I wouldn't say BIM doesn't have anything to do with rendering. As I stated, for rendering you need to model first and you might as well do that following the BIM standard...
