How do you create arrow signs in revit?

How do you create arrow signs in revit?

I know how to create arrows using "annotate>text", but what if you want to draw just an arrow in your drawing?

Is there a way to draw an arrow in revit???

No. Only AutoCAD can draw Arrows.

...and Word, Excel, Paint...just about every software out there, except Revit.

It's a longshot, but maybe Detail Lines and Filled Regions?

I can show you how I've create an Arrow sign as Detail Item with Parameters:

  • New Family > Detail Item  . I used Instance Parameters so to have possibility to change the Arow dimensions by dragging.

  • then Load int the Project. Because I used Instance Parameters I am able now to adjust the Arrow dimensions by dragging the small blue triangles ....

  • I can create also  a row of Arrows by using Repeating Details:

At this point in time (still) Autodesk does not allow Revit to create leaders or arrows. in 2006 I created an adjustable leader with a fixed arrow head as a symbol and have been using that for slope ever since. It is the fastest easiest way I have found.

Autodesk's Revit is a nice program but they need to send surveys out and follow up with making their program better! From what I see from Autodesk and their constant price increases and the lack of real improvement from their programs is crap! Problems in their families that were obvious in 2005 are still a problem in 2021. The programmers do not have real world experience on the modeled items.

Did no one read the title?

Use a site family, check the "always vertical", extrude a post, model the signage panel then a very thin 3D text using a font that has direction arrows. 😉

But on a more serious note, anyone tried the One way indicators from the People flow Toolkit?

What arrows are you talking about?  Annotation symbol, 2D detail, 3D model, I can create all of them in Revit.

I think I know what you are talking about and think we would all agree.  Seems such a rudimentary thing.  A custom arrowhead. I mean, even my kids' Hasbro electronics were able to create custom arrowheads 10 years ago!

Good thing you don't go as far back as these, they were all bespoke!  😉

You can use CHARMAP and select the wingding 3 as your font. There you should have arrow as text
