How do I Automate Dropdown On (CM)?

I want the dropdown to automatically drop when I type in component or door or whatever so I can just start typing to find the family  I want. As it is I have to drag the mouse over and click the dropdown. Can this be scripted? Would one use PyRevit for this? Can it even be done? Thanks.

One of the few annoyances i have with Revit, is the lack of focus on "mouse-less" control. I really wish they would have a UI-designer look at ways they could improve the "mileage" needed for moving the mouse around.

For instance: When i want to do furniture, i can use "CM" to select a "Component" and once i've "clicked" the component dropdown, i can type in to select which component i need - but there's no way to trigger the "dropdown" without having to move the mouse over and click on it.

Adding a simple shortcut - like the "spacebar" in that situation, would make it possible to keep the mouse in the area of the workspace you are working in, and selecting components purely by using the keyboard.

Same goes for detailing, annotation work and so on...

I haven't found a good second hand solution for it either - but i shouldn't have to Autodesk! 😉
