how can i merge design options when moving to final model?

I created design options in a model but now I have selected the design and don't want to keep moving back and forth 

to be able to select elements that used to be an option.

It seems deleting the option deletes the elements with it.

Is there a way I take elements of an option or just get rid of all the options without deleting the elemtns?

1. From Manage on the Ribbon go to Design Options
2. Select the final one and Make is Primary
3. Once it is Primary you will have access to Accept the Primary option of that SET...it will discard the other options
4. Repeat if you have more than one set
