Hi guys,
A Revit n00b here... As part of my work, I receive building models from architects and then add our equipment (typically access equipment like booms, scissor lifts) using families.
When I receive an updated model from the architect, is there a way to copy across all the instances of my families from the old model to the new one?
Note - I tried to select the instances and copy-paste to the new project. It copied the family to the new file, but not the instances.
Apologies if this is already answered in other threads. I did search but couldn't find the answer.
Cheers,
Pete

No Bind in LT??? Wow! I must have missed the memo on that one. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense though. You sure about this?
so your are not Linking the Architectural model into your Mechanical model? that would be the first place to start. if the Arch model is linked into your Mech model you shouldn't need to copy anything over when you get an update.

Best I can tell I don't have the Bind feature... Not in my menus or help file. I also found a forum post saying it's not available in LT.
My real problem is that I didn't set up my project correctly as hmunsell says. Now I know how to avoid this issue in future!
Thanks hmunsell. You're correct - I was not linking the model. Just adding my family instances into the received archi file.
I now realize I should create my own project and link the archi file. Have tried it out and works for me.
