I have been looking into this for a little while and the functionality for different worksets in the same model group seems not to be an option that can be relied upon. I have a customer who uses worksets for visibility filtering in views.
E.g., “switching off” the furniture (this can be done in VG) but he also wants to "switch off" the internal walls (not possible using VG).
So, I thought that filters may be the answer but it felt like it may become messy. So, I created a shared parameter and associated it at the project level to type for Doors, Internal Walls, External Walls, Cladding, Windows, Furniture Etc.
I then gave each model category a simple code - Doors =DR, Internal Walls= WI, External Walls =WE, Cladding WC, Windows=WD, Furniture= FU Etc.
I then assigned the relevant code to the Category at the type level (if the family has many types, you can add an equation to do all the types in one hit ="DR" for example.
I then created a simple set of filters that allow simple control of the view.
The result is that the filters can be used in any view and View templates can be easily created or assigned as needed.
Please let me know if this is useful for you and also if you have any comments to streamline the workflow I would relay appreciate it.
Cheers
Andy
