hiding one wall changes length of joint wall

Hi everybody,

the architect builds walls with concrete and plasterboard walls. The structural engineer works with the reference of the architectural model.

When hiding the plasterboard wall the length of the concrete is changing.

Do someone knows this behavior?

Is their a chance for the structural engineer  - without telling the architect to change his workflow - to fix the length of the concrete wall when hiding the non load bearing elements?

Thx for help!

Gruß,
Andrea

Disable Auto Join (Disallow Join) and use Join Geometry instead.

I know that this is possible - but the point is, that I only use the project of the architect as a linked model. So I have to say to him to change his workflow - what I only want to do if there is no other way...

I'm not clear on what you are trying to accomplish, but no, I'm not suggesting anybody change their workflow.  Are the walls coming from a Link? If so, you can copy them to your Project via Copy/Monitor tool and mess with them all you like.

Yes, the walls are coming from a link - and the linked model comes in a new version every few weeks.

Thx for the idea, but...

when I copy only single walls to my project - which has no other model elements - I get problems to hide only these few original walls in the linked model (not the hole category) (And to use a special view link means to force the architect to create such a view... not wanted...)

And only by hazard the shorter wall was found because in the structural views nobody knows that they are plasterboard walls joint to concrete walls in the way I showed in the pictures.

Andrea

You know, I'm thinking Parts might also get you to where you want to go.   Hard to say for sure though without knowing more.

Maybe workflows do need to be changed if you want to coordinate.

That is what I'm afraid of - only wanted to ask before telling someone else what to do in a different way....
