Hi, I am fairly new to revit and have been given a near complete set of plans as DWG files...

Hi,

I am fairly new to revit and have been given a near complete set of plans as DWG files exported from Revit. I’ve managed to make most of the desired changes so far but have a few questions about integrating it all:
1. How do you get all of the pages (e.g site plan, ground floor plan, Elevations, Sections etc) together into the one document when they came from separate DWG files? (is this integration necessary for rendering on the cover page or anything else?)
2. How can you get multipule components into one page when you can crop parts out of each one? (e.g Sections North, South, East and West) – “multi – import” didn’t allow cropping
Thanks!

Hello. Revit works differently to autocad. In revit the pages are setup separately using the different views you created from the main model. Are you trying to import the dwgs back to revit?

Why would you need to import into revit an almost complete set of plans?

Nazeem A. Jummun we have already imported them into revit and worked on them. the architect gave me the almost completed dwgs files. they were not working in other programs.

and there is a big shortage of architects in my area

My architect didn't complete the plans before leaving and there is a shortage of architects in the area

Naomi Hart i have pm you

If plans are 95% complete in AutoCAD there is no point to finish the 5% in Revit.
Nachricht 9 von 16

Matthew Brooks Robinson That was my thought as well. Probably finish them off in Autocad and unless there is something missing that you want to achieve in Revit.

You can easily get a draftsman to finish the drawings but someone has to stamp the plans for approval.

Chapa Bupe Sikazwe It would seem that she has an hour of autocad to do or 20 hrs to convert the cad to revit. I say 20 because she is a newbie. Also she didnt use the word link which means she is in greater trouble.

Naomi Hart if i understood correctly, you have a bunch of plans and you want them in one drawing set?
Nachricht 13 von 16

You Just need a sheet and then just drag the plans or sections or whatever you drawn.

Matthew Brooks Robinson The purpose of converting one format to another is to achieve ‘productivity’ and if production is not in play, best to use the format that already works. If it’s ability, then it’s another issue which I believe there is a lot help even on this forum.

Chapa Bupe Sikazwe Not sure why you are trying to explain to me. I am basically saying that it is stupid or wasteful for "her" to spend any time on converting this project to revit based on how advanced her dwgs are and her lack of knowledge of revit. I also wonder if she knows the difference between linking and importing or that she will have to completely redraw the plans if she is ultimately looking for 3d content or presentation. Since she has not responded to any of the suggestions screw her.

Matthew Brooks Robinson Am actually agreeing with you totally :hundert_Punkte:%! I hope she has got your initial gist which I also agree to.
