Help with Toposurface

hi there,

I am modelling a site, and imported the current site survey from old  DWG file.  Unfortunately there is no Z points on the DWG and therefore when I try to create Toposurface from import I get Elevation Points but there are all set to Zero.- basically it is flat, no elevation points on original survey.  

Is there any easy way or some shortcuts to help me create Toposurface from flat contour line drawing?  Do I need to manually place the points on the lines? There are many contour lines and good variation the topography of the area so looking for any shortcuts.

Hello there is no other way you need to key-in manually the elevation because of different height of points. Thanks

I assume the drawing contains at least text to represent the elevations of each contour line. No? If that's the case, in the DWG file, move each contour line vertically to the corresponding elevation, and then import the CAD file into Revit, to create the topography. That might be faster and more accurate than putting multiple points manually in Revit following the curves.

Yes I have metre elevations on the contours eg 4.5m etc. along each contour.  I understand what you mean to a degree, I assume you are saying create vertical heights somehow before I import? In CAD?  I am not so good with CAD so not sure how to do that so that they will be read by Revit. If you know of a tutorial that gives a little demo of it, id be appreciative of direction to it.

Since the Z's are missing it gonna be manual for you 🙂 either in CAD Or in REVIT similar to what therevitkid did in this ancient video from youtube.

Otherwise, ask your surveyor to give you what you are paying for 🙂 then most probably he would be doing it manually

ok that is what I assumed, that there is no short cuts since the Z points are missing, but wanted to check.
