Help Revit File Won't Open

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi all,

When I launch Revit then go to open a certain file it seems to crash Revit and the programme ends up with the "not responding" in the top left-hand corner.

The file is not set up for work sharing so is its own file. I have 4 auto saved backups in the same folder that also cause the same problem.

Other Revit files seem to open and work fine with my computer, I have also tried to open the file on another computer and it causes the same problem.

If anyone could be of assistance then this would be a massive help I am in my final year of university studying architectural technology and have 3 days till my final hand in.

Is there any way  I could fix my file?

Kind Regards

Matt

Before you open the file try to tick the AUDIT and see if helps. Thanks

try

1. detach and open

2. audit while open.

3. select only one or two workset while opening the file..

4. try to use recovery option from revit..

you may post the file here and someone would try to help you as well.

best of luck.

Hi, @Anonymous I would recommend clearing out as much as possible from your %TMP% folder.
https://knowledge.autodesk.com/search-result/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to-delete-temporary-files-in-Windows.html

In addition, I would also check the journal folder for extraneous Revit models. When saving a non-workshared model to a network drive, Revit will save a copy of the model to the journal folder located here: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Autodesk\Revit\<product name and release>\Journals

Also, please review this AKN article for information regarding where to find any available product updates as well as information about how to install them. We want to make sure you have the latest updates installed.

Let's also make sure you have the latest graphics card drivers installed.

If that doesn't help, could you please attach a copy of the latest journal file to your original support ticket for review?

Hi @Anonymous

Sorry to hear that you are facing issues.

There is a possibility that the specific file is too large compared to the amount of memory available. Make sure your computer meets minimum requirements.

Also, please check if:
- Revit has the latest update installed on your desktop app.

Try the audit function as mention by the experts.

Let me know if this helps resolve your issue. Looking forward to your reply update.

Regards,
