Check the view's Phase and Phase filter.  Or, you may accidentally turn it off:

Some other things could be the issue (asides from what was said above):

1) You could have placed your model on a workset that is turned off on your 1st floor "View Template"

2) Check the lightbulb at the bottom of your screen, maybe you hide it in view

Alternatively, deleted that floor all together, and create a new grid level for your 1st floor. Be sure to create similar to your 2nd floor so it retains all the information on that floor, and it could help solve your problem.

Thanks guys so I won't have lost the geometry? That's what I was worried about but I could still see the model in other views..

No the geometry is not gone, its just hidden through one of the various methods somethings can be hidden in Revit. If theres an issue, theres almost always a work around in Revit. Its just about knowing what to look for, and the different approaches to use for different problems.

Hopefully one of the solutions above helped you out abit.

Does "add the view to the drawing" mean drag the View from the browser and drop it on a Sheet?

I think he may mean when he calls out a section of his floor plan to make an enlarged view, the plan disappears.

This actually happened to me once on Revit 2016, and I believe the reason why was because I was making Detail View Callout and not a Floor Plan Callout. Maybe that could be your issue?

To check this go to your "View" tab, then click "callout", then in your property browser, make sure that Floor Plan is selected in your drop down box before making your callout.
