Handrail Support Visibility

In one of my plan views, a handrail with wall-mtd. supports displays correctly except for the supports themselves, which are largely hidden from view. I can't find anything in the type properties of visibility graphics settings that could be affecting this. It appears as though they are hidden by the stair itself, but section and 3D views confirm that the rail is properly placed. When the railing is selected, the supports can be seen.

I've looked through several posts on the forum dating back to 2012 and haven't seen any solutions to this problem. The most relevant seems to have ended unsolved.

Any ideas?

In your Project Browser - under Families. Look for the Baluster family being used. Right click on it and Edit. Make sure that the geometry has been set to be visible. Reload the family into the project.

Thanks, rsahayUZMK9. I ensured that each sweep object in the Family's construction was enabled for Plan/RCP (it was indeed unchecked initially, so that tip will be very helpful in the future!), but when reloaded into the project the same error continues. Any other ideas?

In your project VG / View Template - are all the Railing boxes checked?

All else failing - can you share a file that shows the behavior?

...is it perhaps Detail Level related? In other words, is the family set to show at your View's Detail Level (e.g. Course, Medium, Fine)?

Add an invisible model line vertically below the support in the support family.

AHHH! The old model line trick! I'd be curious to know if this resolves the issue though. I never would have considered it for this. Let us know, @brandon.

P.S. If he goes this route, I guarantee that his nest post will be "I've got handrail brackets showing all over the place! what do I do?!" Smiley Very Happy

Brilliant - that did it! @barthbradley as of now the supports have not shown up anywhere unintended, but I'll keep an eye out. Thanks @ToanDN, but any idea why this is necessary? Will I universally need to add this line to other Families in the future to avoid a bug or is this a "feature" of Family construction for supports?

My advice: Do it on an as-need basis. I was half serious when I predicted what your next post would be about; that stuff would be showing above the View Cut Plane that shouldn't be.

@barthbradley  You can make it show or not show however you want by how you draw the model line in the family.  It is a simple geometry control.

@brandon  A lot of things in Revit are weird and for this one they might have thought that showing the handrail support wouldn't be necessary.  To be fair I have never shown them on my drawings so the OOTB setting is sort of working in my favor.

The model line trick is widely used for present elements above cut plane on plan views, just so you know.
