How to control the hierarchy of revision orders?

Hello

I currently work on a large scale project and we do create many revisions weekly. Is there a way where you can control where you want a revision in the sequence number system. Now when we create a revisions it always ends down with the highest seq. nr. and we have to manually move/merge it up which is extremely time demanding, beecause we have more than 300 revisions and new ones is still being created. Some we have to move up 50-100 seq. numbers.

So if there is a add inn or maybe dynamo can do so you have the option for decide a revision seq. number to control hieraki it would be outstanding. Or else it is something Autodesk should consider to create, since I believe we are not the only one with this issue.

the number 45 I want to decide where to place from start when I create, not by move up. Every move takes 15-25 seconds and if we need to move it 50 spaces its easy 20-25 minutes we use.

Best regards

Hi @Anonymous

Yes, Move Up or Move Down multiple times moves the selected revisions to the desired location in the revision sequence.

Changing the sequence of revisions on the Sheet Issues/Revisions dialog will change the number assigned to each revision.

However by adding different fields we can customize the revision number and sequence.

Please select the Accept as Solution button if my post solves your issue or answers your question. Kudos welcome!

Yes I clearly understand this, but what I like to do is to be able to decide where I want to place my revision for example if you have 300 revisions then I want to add 1 revision between seq. number 59 and 60, so I don't have to move it up 240 times. Which is so time consuming. If there is a add in it would be nice or if you think dynamo can solve this issue until Autodesk implements this. In many large scale projects this is a huge problem

Hi @Anonymous

Let me do some research, talk to the team and get back on this.

Is it possible for you to share the file? I can send you a private folder to upload.

What you really need is select a bunch of rows and move them up or down.  Sadly it cannot be done just yet.  Maybe submit an Idea for it.

Hi @Anonymous

Just got some update on this - looks like the API has this support.

ReorderRevisionSequence lets you assign out the order of revisions exactly as needed.

Let me know when you are able to upload your file.

That only changes the Numbering not the Sequencing.  They are different things.

@ToanDN Yes, I see that. For Assigning 300+ revisions it looks like a new collection of revisions has to be built and hard-coded as a one-time operation.

We may have to test it with a macro, once we get the file from @Anonymous

I have now uploaded a more clean model. It would be nice to be able to group revision and move more at the same time but it`s not our main priority. We don't wish to create +300 new revisions with one click, but simply not move the new one up 300 times because it always start in the bottom when you add a new one. I am able to mark any revision seq. number. As you see in the picture, but I want to be able to create a new revision in between 193 and 194. That's the big issue we can't do now.

But the ability to move multiple revision rows at once would let you place your bottom row up to wherever you want with a single click?  Don't you want that?

Example with a different program below:

Yes that’s true so yes that would be very much appreciated if you manage to fix this.

It's certainly out of my capability.  Merely pointed out what could be implemented to improve the usability of the program.
