Halftone background in sections

I am cutting a section through a house using a view template but want anything past the cut to show up halftone. Is there a way to do this? Can I get the same effect using the view template? TIA.

have you looked into Depth Cueing?

After looking into Depth Cueing, it seems to fade depending on the distance from the cut. I want to have everything past the cut line at halftone independent of distance. Is that possible?
