Graphics issue with columns/pad footings in plan view

When in plan view for a foundation plan, my concrete columns are not visible over the pad footings. My cut plane is above the pad footing, yet the column shows underneath somehow? The current work-around is to have the post 1" lower than the base level and the pad not attached to the column structurally but rather joined so the column cuts th3D view3D viewe pad.pad selected to show post below?!pad selected to show post below?!cut at 9" above padcut at 9" above padJoined but not attached, post dropped 1"Joined but not attached, post dropped 1"pad footing issue view r..JPG

Edit the Column Family-

check Family Category and Parameters, see if Show family pre-cut in plan views is checked.

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/revit-products/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2014/EN...

Also, check if view is set to Structural Discipline

i'm a little confused, the column looks to be ABOVE the pad footing, at the column intersects with the View Cut Plane. Yet, it is not shown in the view. Is this correct?

...I think what you are seeing when you drop it 9" is just the cut pad footing, not the column itself. Turn on the category.

Yep--as the Family Cut Plane is used if the box is checked in my post above.

It is checked, and it works when set to structural, but that hides all our concrete walls which we need to see in the foundation plan.

You checked what? Discipline?

Did you check the cut plane setting in the column family I mentioned?

both. the box is checked in the family. The view works when i set it to structural but that is undesirable.

This was an issue for us in 2018 as well, but is was solvable just by joining the pad and column. In 2019 this no longer works unless we detach the column from the pad and lower the column into the pad.

Uncheck the box in the family--this tells Revit to use the Family's cut plane--not the Projects'.

If it still doesn't work--Not sure what is going on then......

You could:

- use an underlay to show the walls

- Place (2) views on top of each other on a sheet

Unchecking the box worked. Thanks so much!

As a side note...

To get your concrete walls to show in Structural views, make sure those walls have their Structural property checked.
