Graphic Setting for Column

I have a Graphic question - the column has a solid color fill but loses the color once it is next to a wall. How to change the setting to keep the solid color fill of the column? Thanks.

because you are not cutting it in the Plan View, or the view scale is too large.

The pattern should show unless you VGO the view or the columns in view.  Share you project file here and state how you want the walls and columns to look.

This is really getting frustrating.  For some unknown reasons, even the unedited structural column family has lost hatch pattern after being placed in the model.

You going to have to post you file. There's no reason this should be so difficult. Also, I don't get what joining behavior differences you are talking about between the way Structural and Architectural Columns join to and cut a Wall on an angle.

You are right, I didn't cut the column.  When I place the columns, they are placed on site level instead of level 01 by default. Once I change the base level of placement to level 01, the level that I am working on, all the columns display the hatch pattern.

You are placing the structural column using Depth instead of Height again.  Please choose Height.

Okay, now everything starts to work. even architectural column works without showing the wall inside it without even join them since I have unchecked "automatically joins geometry to walls" . The problem was caused by columns being placed lower than the walls.

Thanks for keeping reminding me of this. I didn't pay attention to it.  By default, it shows Depth and Site, when change it to Height, it changes to options of Level. So the depth means how deep the structural column goes  under the ground level/level 01.
