Graphic overrides for Structural Beam Systems

Hello

Is it possible to change the cut pattern of Beams in a Structural Beam System array? I have hosted them to a wall, and they are vertical and I would like to change their cut graphics make them solid black for example,  but the options are greyed out and not available. I also  notice the family profile is in the column category. Maybe I need to look  in another category?

Beam Systems don't have that functionality. You would have to change the Cut Pattern in the Structural Framing category.

Thanks, I found the Structural Framing category and changed the Cut Pattern to Solid color but still no effect, the framing is unchanged.

Change Structural Framing, not Structural Framing System.

Is your view set to Wireframe or Hidden/Shaded?

it also looks like your changing the Background color, not the foreground.

I have set the Foreground now in Black, no change

Both in shaded or hidden line view, the framing profiles cut fill show in white even if I override it to black.

It only updates if I check the Halftone.

@hmunsell  It does react to Projection/Surface override. 

Why is it doing so? I looks like its not cutting the actual profile?

Projection/Surface should only work if you are looking at the End of the beam, Not Cutting the beam.

• are you Cutting the beam with a section or is the section cut link before the end of the beam?

can you post a plan view showing your Section line and the beam?

The views are all standard floorplan views,  as you can see the wall is represented the way it should and the beams as the full height of the wall. So yeah maybe I didn't mention but the beams are vertical. I want them to act like studs. There must be something about the way Revit represents structural beam framingin plan view?  For example with  structural columns I read somewhere that there is a difference between how architects  vs engineers see it with respect to the reference level it belongs to.  Not sure of its related to that. I haven't tried setting the beams horizontal and doing a section view through them

The structural framing system is not being cut in floorplan view. Its just a projection. 

Here they are hosted on a slanted wall and you can clearly see the wall is cut while the beams are not.

They are cut only in a vertical section  view.  Is this a limitation? Probably It doesnt like that I`m placing beams in vertical walls but I want the parametric features and flexibility of the structural framing systems

As you can  see in the floorplan view,  the vertical beam is not cut by the floorplan cut plane. It doesn't show a cut pattern in floorplan

Interesting, after un-checking that Show family  pre-cut in plan view this is how it looks...

When its inside the wall, its still white even if that layer is set to Air.

Update : I found that it works only if you dont override the cut patterns. So it does work but it uses default material patterns.

If I try to override, it only cuts the beams that are not intersecting a wall. I think this is the closest it can get which is fine I guess.

So this is without any VG override
