This is a persisting issue with revit. There is no easy solution but there was a very interesting presentation at this year's Autodesk University which I recommend seeing it. It has solutions for this problem which includes custom Railing panels.
Edit Baluster Placement=>Break Pattern at "Never"
Use Landing Height Adjustment ("Yes") and set Landing Height Adjustment (~7")
Does this give you what you want?
If this is one off, then you may use two types of railing.
RAILING 1 : for handrail.. ( edit the way you want )..
RAILING 2 : for the glass panels..
if you can manage that then your problem is solved...
now the trick part is, if you want both RAILING 1 and RAILING 2
in the same railing type....
now you see where you are going...yeah ??
I feel, the split, slope change etc for hand rail and glass panel wont be the same considering
your design, so there's a slight possibility one railing type wont solve your DESIGN problem..
hope that helps you take further decision.
Cheers
Hi..
In revit , all types of railings can be achived..
its just the matter of Design..
have a look at following designs..
if you finalise what you are looking for then probably someone
here can help you give solution...
Cheers..
if you referring to the glass panel adjacent the stair stringer, that would be done with a different glass panel baluster family in the Rail family. That Rail Family would use both a square glass panel baluster family and a polygonal glass panel baluster family.
...plus, of course, a baluster family for the supports.

how did you achieve the 3rd picture, the picture that looks like a photo.? that is essentially the look that we want. we are having problems with the joins at the top of the stairs.
I bet he uses a combination a curtain wall for the glass panels and a railing for the handrail.
I just wanted to follow up here, any progress on this issue? Did the suggestions from the experts help with your issue?
Please mark any posts that help with "Accept as Solution" and thanks! Kudos welcome.
