To put a door in a curtain wall the panel cannot be deleted, but replaced with a door family. What you need to delete is the segment(s) of grid lines that are in the area that you want to occupy with the door.

tried that... still no luck. I've also replaced the entire curtain wall and and made sure it was unpinned.

If necessary, you need to delete segments of grid lines, if they are in the area that the door will occupy. Do that until you have only one panel. Then select the panel, if the curtain panel has panels defined by type you need to unpin it first, then replace the panel with a curtain wall-door family.

Replacing and unpinning the curtain wall have nothing to with placing a door in the curtain wall. First you need a curtain wall door type, it is different than a regular door. Second, tab select a panel, if you see a pin then unpin it, then select the curtain wall door type from the type selector in the properties. That will replace the panel with a door. Same workflow for changing to a different panel type, or a curtain wall window.

I think my problem might be that when I go to load the curtain wall door from the load family button, nothing seems to happen. It doesn't show up in the properties tab automatically, nor is it there when I click the drop-down button for the door properties tab. Know what I can do about that? I've placed doors in curtain walls before, I don't know why I'm having such a hard time.

When you load the family nothing happens. But if it is a correct curtain wall door family it will appear in the dropdown when you select a panel. Edit the family and make sure it is a curtain wall door and not a regular door.

LORD Have Mercy!!! That was a lot of work. Should've posted to the forum sooner. I knew there was something small I was missing. Thank-you for your patience. Keep up the good work.

Weird. Usually unpinning and replacing work for me. Must be a newfangled 2019 trick. Smiley Wink

...wait a minute: do I understand you correctly? You unpin it and replace it? Or no?

If there is no panel defined under the curtain wall type then I don't have to unpin, just select and replace. If there is a panel type defined then I do have unpin in order to replace.
