Generic model

I made a generic model 2D of a wheelchair. When I try to put it on the model, it stays in on type of floor and not in another. The material of the floor could prevent the generic model to be hosted by this floor? is there any solution so I can host the generic model in any type of floor?

Are you sure it is actually a floor and not a roof?

Yes I'm sure! One is a concrete floor and the other is a ceramic
floor! My 2D generic model can be host by a ceramic floor but not by
de concrete floor!

Please confirm:

1. That your family was indeed created with a floor-based template file.

2. That you can model two floors exactly the same in every respect (same Level, same 0 offset, same single-layer structure, etc.) and then that changing the material of one of them to concrete causes the family hosted to it to be deleted.

Tks for the help, but I solved the problem: I created a new family,
but no as a generic model, but as a generic annotation, and worked!!

Generic annotations are not hosted by anything so of course, you don't have that problem. But are you aware of the fact that your wheelchairs are becoming symbols, and they will scale themselves up and down when your view scale changes?

Is there any preset that could help this problem? Or is there any
better solution to represent this wheelchair?

It could be a face hosted, or even non hosted family. I would use Specialty Equipment or Furniture category instead of Generic Model, though.
With that said, a floor hosted family should work but I don't have your model so I cannot tell what exactly the cause is.

I think that the best practice is to create two distinct families:

a "Detail Item" family including the 2D geometry of wheelchair.

an "Entourage" family and host the 2D "Detail Item" family in the plan view.

You will use each family according to your needs while keeping the consistency of the plan representation:

1. use the "Detail item" when a 2D representation of the wheelchair has to appear on blown-up part of the plan (a callout, for instance) but you do not want the wheelchair to appear in other views of the same level. The "detail item" will only appear in that specific "blown view" because is view hosted.

2. On the other hand, if the wheelchair has to appear in all views of your project you can use the "entourage" family (that will actually use the same 2D hosted "detail item" for the plan view). The "entourage" family is workplane/level hosted so it will appear in all plans views where the wheelchair is visible.

Furthermore, you could create 3 more "detail item" families in order to have the representations of the front, back and side 2D views that can also be added to the entourage family in order for the wheelchair of the entourage family to be visible in frontal views.

hope it helps
