Generic model won't show up no matter what I try

I am working in someone else's project and for some reason the generic roof drain models show up in one plan (a floor above) but not the other (and that someone doesn't know whats going on either). When I duplicate the view with no view template the problem still occurs. I've tried turning on all visibility settings and changing the view range. I still get the following error: None of the created elements are visible in "View". You may want to check the active view, its Parameters, and Visibility settings, as well as any Plan Regions and their settings. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • Are there any filters applied to the view?
  • Instead of duplicating the view... you can also try making a new Plan View from the View Ribbon. pick Edit Type and make sure the VT is set to None.

I now tried inserting it through the systems tab and it shows up half toned but when I set it to its height, it disappears even though it is sitting on the roof and appears at that height in the above floor plan. I turned off the filter as well, still won't show up

you can try this create a view or refer to the view that you be able to see your generic roof drain and create a view template to that view and apply to the view you wanted it to see. thanks

I just tried this - STILL DOESN'T WORK - ugh. Can a generic model have its own view range? It does appear at the plan's level but once lowered it doesn't (again view range is fine as I see other things below and the floor plan above shows it)

I know this is old, but I had a similar issue just now and it took me a while to fix it.

The view 'Detail Level' was set to course and the models were set to med/fine. This may help someone else.

In REVIT 2025, it won't allow me to import an ADSK (from Inventor) and it must be an .RFA file. These have low graphic quality and in most cases don't show in section even after trying all the different view settings and tricks as per above. It works if I use an older REVIT that does have ADSK option (i,e 2022) to import the ADSK, make a family of it, then bring into 2025. Why is REVIT 2025 changing what worked before? The .RFA exports from inventor have always been poor quality and lose information, which is why I use ADSK. If you are going to take away ADSK, then you need to improve this functionality first.

I just had this happen to me and it ended up being that when I placed the family objects in 3D view the phase was set to Project Completion but my Section view was set to New Construction.  Once I changed my objects to New Construction they appear as expected in my Section view.

Hope this helps.
