Generic model Vs System Family

Hi,

I am trying to detail out a small portion of curtain wall interface which includes slab, beem, upstand at the edge. This is not part of project instead it is a separate project file. Please refer to the screen shot.

Which is a better way?

1 to create the upstand, beam, slab using floor (system family) [this includes creating separate level to achieve slab drops, rcc beams are difficult to adjust]

2 to create a generic model line based with flexible parameters [I created a generic model with simple extrusions and applied concrete material to it but in the graphics cut pattern concrete fill pattern is not available, what should I do?]

Thanks in advanced !!!

using system families is better for modification , classification & quantity survey

generic models with too much parameters will affect your model size

also you will miss the feature to control every category one by one

you can turn it off or on , change its color , so on with effect your model
