Floors in Elevation Problem

Anonymous

Hello,

I am having an issue with Revit 2019. I am working on a residential home, and every time I add a floor, it shows in my exterior elevations. I have made sure that the floors are connected to the inside of the exterior walls and not the exterior. I also have made sure that the exterior walls are not transparent. I am out of other options.

Help!

1. Check the location of the Elevation viewpoint ( crop distance, etc.) Perhaps the elevation is cut at/inside the wall?

As you stated the floor sketch is aligned to the inside face of the walls--

Cut sections and confirm.

2. Turn off floors in the view(s).

Obviously, we need to check that you don't use "wireframe" mode. If not, try to print the elevation to pdf. Do you see the same issue?

Does the floor disappear when you zoom in closer to the wall?  If so, this could be due to typical graphic issue that happen when the element covering another element is very thin (e.g. 1/2" sheathing).

...are you sure that the walls don't attach to the floors? Have you checked a Section View to verify the Wall-to-Floor join condition?

...FWIW: You can edit wall assembly and unlock the outer vertical wall layer(s) so you can extend them downward/upward to cover the floor via the Base Extension Instance Parameter in the Wall Properties.

No, it is there no matter how close I am. I am able to hide it in my elevation view and it becomes invisible.

How thin is the cladding layer covering the edge of the floor?

You know, I'm looking back at your Screenshot and trying to understand why you would NOT see the floor in Elevation. I mean, the floor is visible everywhere else.  Looks platform framed.

...check out that link I posted. I think it may actually be what you want to do (e.g. extend the base of the wall finish layers to cover the floor).
