floor finishes

Hello,

I would like to ask how can I assign different floor finishes in my project for one floor level.

I need to assign different floor finishes per room. How can I do this?

Hi,

You can use "parts" option to make different floor finishes in one floor (This works only when you floor is horizontal) and Part options doesn't work for sloped floors

If you are using sloped floors - You have to make separate boundary for each finishes.

I would simply model the various floor finishes as different Revit Floor Types.

So one single Floor type / elements for the entire floor- overlaid with Floor Finish elements

You can then also schedule the different floor finishes to find their area for pricing / ordering purposes.

Thank you so much for your response. But how this works? It is like I split the floor to sub floors and I have to add finish to each one? when I select split parts it opens a window to sketch the different parts.

I thought to tag rooms and for each room to assign there from the properties window different finishes.

Do you think it will work?

Hi,

As far as the walls and ceilings finishes concern, I can use parts as well? I tried it for walls and it didn't work.

And something more... I tried to assign materials paint for walls using the paint tool, the only available paint material in my revit library is the paring stripe paint. How can I add more finishes material as plastic paint for walls etc.

When I assign paint to walls it refers to both sides? If the wall is external and I want to assign different paint for the outside from the one inside how I do it?

Using Parts requires a more advanced set of skills so I would only use it as the last resort. If you want walls with different materials interior and exterior then edit the wall type and add layers of different materials to them. Samw with any other composite system families such as floors and ceilings.

Thank you @ToanDN! Actually for the floors I managed to have different materials by splitting the floors to parts. In properties of each part of the floor it writes the material for each section. But when I do the material take off it doesn't present them as different materials. is there any way of doing it? In will try what you wrote to me for walls.

No, I selected floors.

I tried parts and it worked!. thank you so much. And something else for the walls finishes I applied the paint finish plastic  for example with thickness lets say 2mm. At material take off it appears at material description as a layer, how can I change it to appear at material:as paint column?

As Paint is only applicable when you paint the surface using the Paint tool.  Materials assigned to wall's layers via editing the wall type are not As Paint materials.
