Fixing Schedule - How to sort by level?

Hi everyone, 

I am trying to get our template more streamlined/easy to work with at my job. We are timber detailers.
We currently have many separate schedules for blocking, dwangs, framing, and short length quantities/types, and these all have a separate schedule for each different level we use (Level 0 - Ground, Level 1 - First Floor etc.)

However at the moment we are using 1 schedule for our fixings (eg. joist hangers) and this schedule is totaled for the whole model, rather than quantities on different levels. This can become pretty difficult as we have to go through and count what we've used, and the bigger the job... the harder this gets.

I have tried going into the parameters of the schedule to change the sorting/grouping side of things, but when I ask it to be sorted by level it does nothing but give a new "level" column to the schedule with no information inside.

Do I need to make a separate schedule for each level, like we have done for the timber? Or am I somehow able to sort them by level within the one schedule? Is it to do with the actual fixings, rather than the schedule? And if so, how can I make them be sorted by level?

Hello jane8LTT8,
I assume that the elements don’t have a level or base constraint assigned to them. A possible solution would be to add a shared parameter to the fixings families, for example “Host Level” or “Placement Level”. You can then fill in this parameter manually, or use a Dynamo script to populate it based on the Z-height.
