Finding volume of a created extrusion in family

I have made a family from multiple shaped extrusions. I need to find out the volume of each extrusion (in family!), in order to determine the required materials for my project. By the way, I have Revit 2014. Hope someone can give me some aid.

Inside the family you would have to do the calculations yourself.

 

Inside the project you can create a material takeoff, there you have a parameter named material:volume.

Please mention Revit version, especially when uploading Revit files.

Revit 2014 does not have the capability to create calculated parameters. However, you can create formula driven parameters that can calculate the volume that you want. 

What I would do would be to create families for individual components with dimensional parameters and a formula driven volume parameter. Since you need the volume to be schedulable, it should be a shared parameter. Nest the parts into a 'parent' family and associate parameters.

That's my basic work around. Can I get the cross sectional Area in a revit family similar to AutoCAD? These are for complex shapes.

Oops. I  was thinking of the OP. Sorry.

 

In that case, calculated parameters will be your savior! As long as you have the appropriate shared parameters, you can create a volume parameter that calculates (with or without rounding) and adds the values to the schedule.

 

Also - for the cross sectional areas - creating a region in a cross sectional view should give you the benefit of the area parameter.

I'm looking for this in the family. I've attached my clunky work around. I need this because I am combining parameters in the schedule. but combining parameters does not allow a calculated parameter to be used. hence the work around. If i could report the cross sectional area it would make the calculation much easier and more precise.
