Filled Region/Masking Region not working in family

Hi all,

I've looked at several threads here and still don't understand why my family is not working.   I have a family that works and now I want to create another family that works similarly.  I literally copied the region (a filled region set to mask) that I used for the working family, and pasted it into the non-working family and it still doesn't work.  These have the same category and the same hosting.  What could I be doing that is causing them to behave differently?

See which work plane in the family is the masking region hosted by.  Also, select the masking region in the family and see if Draw in foreground box is ticked.

It also depends on the height of the family and their offset from the ground. If you want to cheat, I would add an invisible model line to the family elevation.

When you load this to the family to the project, You can control how your family will behavesyman2000_1-1696363121427.png

Thanks for the replies!

  • hosted to workplane (level) like the other family.
  • invisible vertical line, check. (my favorite trick)
  • draw to foreground, check.

still no joy.

Convert the vertical line from symbolic to model line.

I closed Revit last night, and when I reopened the model the family worked...with the symbolic vertical line.  Must have been some temporary glitch.  Sorry for the alarm.  But thank you all for supporting this great resource.
