I am placing a window into a wall, but the moment I do it messes up the hatching on the wall. it also messes up a connection on a perpendicular wall. Please see below screen shots showing with and without a window. Please advise any solution or reasons why this is happening

Where is the fill pattern coming from? Is it coming from a Material? Is it coming from the Wall Type's Coarse Fill Pattern?

Not sure where it is coming from. Just noticed something obscure in the window family when create a legend plan, which I cannot see in the family. attached family for review. Suspect what ever the rectangular shape is the thing causing the issue.

Turn off the Wall Category in Legend View?  That make it go away?

...regarding the wall hatching issue: I just test your family and I can't seem to replicate.  You say that when you place this family in a Project Wall, it affects the Wall Hatch Pattern. No issues in my testing. I tested with both the Wall's Material Cut Fill Pattern and Coarse Fill Pattern.

I did see one problem related to the Flip Control, but I corrected problem by deleting original Flip Control and replacing it with a Double Vertical and a Double Horizontal, and making the Center (Left/Right) Ref. Plane an "Origin".  FWIW.

Did you try set the hatch pattern to align with element?

The issues with flip controls is that non symmetrical components like a window that only opens one side sets it as the same type whether the opening is on the left or the right. Even though these 2 windows have the exact same dimensions the mere fact that one opens left and the other opens right makes them 2 different types when creating schedules .
