I am doing a very large master plan project and it requires to show fence line on site plan as --x----x--, and the ability to quantify them as well.

- I prefer not to use repeating detail component.

- I have tried Wall and Curtainwall but I cannot show the --x-- graphic on plan.

- I have tried a line based Generic model family with generic annotation nested as (x), and an array parameter to space (x) along the distance.  It is kinda work but I cannot insert gates as easily as with Wall or Curtainwall.

- I don't really need correct presentation such as posts, bars, or chainlink panels.

Are there anyways to override the plan graphic of a Wall or Curtainwall to show with --x-- style?

I use , in such a case, the following steps:

  • first , I create a Generic Annotation Family that contains the letter X placed at the intersection of x,y axes...I've called the family X-family
  • nest the previous created family (X-family) into a new created Curtain Panel Family. This new family contains a model for 3d and elevation views and for plan view a Symbolic Line....I've called it CP-family
  • Load the CP-family into the Project. In project , create a new type of Curtain Wall , call it Fence ....from Properties > Curtain Panel > CP-family

I,ve attached the families and the Project. The example is a rough one and can be refined.
