If i join the corbel with the column I have right visualization of connection (no line) but I cannot assign a sub-category to the corbel. How can I?

Are you joining? Joined elements share the same category and Line Weight.  Unjoin to keep category.

Hi

I keep the elemets unjoined to have different sub-category.

Problem is visualization because I do not want to show line between the elements. How can I? I eclose a video to make myself clearer.

You could Mask it, but that won't hide it in 3D.

...and Mask won't work with any View Visual Style but Hidden obviously.

...What's the reason you want a Corbel Subcategory?  Maybe I can offer a alternative solution to that.  Are you doing it that way for more Visibility control?

Hi,

It could be a solution, but in this way I have to mask the line in all column in all view. Quite time consuming and no parametrical solution, I guess.

Wait a minute. I thought the Column and Corbel were in the same family. You are saying that you are applying Corbels in the Project?

There are in same family. Corbels are created as extusions.

If your intent is joining them then what is the purpose of keeping them in different subcategories?

My intention was to change color of sub category in order to give easier view for the producer.
Each corbel would be connected to some different color.

So the idea is to "differentiate" the corbel from the column using a different color?  Well, if you must Join them, your Subcategory approach won't work because Joined Elements share the same Category/Subcategory.  So what's the alternative?  Well, you could use the Paint Tool to apply different colors (e.g. Materials)  to the surfaces of the Joined Geometry. This wouldn't change the elements' core joined condition.  Still, it's only a "cosmetic" solution. Not very "BIM".  I think I'd opt for "BIM" and not Join them at all.  I might not even have them in the same Family. Rather, I would nest one into the other as a Shared Family -- or Group them together in the Project.  This way I could "differentiate" them in the Project in even more ways.
