Family is showing a different color when loaded into an architecture project

I created a Blue chair in revit family, and when I wanted to load it into an architecture project, the color changed and it is not blue, it turned black. How can I fix it in order to show the color I assigned to the family when I created it?

I attached some pictures of the blue chair revit family and then when the chair turns black in the architecture project.

Material definitions in project overwrite material definition in families.

So, basically I have to assign a new material again or is it on the view options? how do I modify it the only option I find is to edit the family but when editing it is on  Revit Family where I already did it. Where do I assign the new material definitions?

Go to the material browser, find the material that your chair is using and change the color.  Or did actually create a material in the family or just overrride the color of the default. If so, duplicate and rename and then reload into project. As long as the project doesn't have a similarly named material, it will accept your new material from the family as is.

If your project already has a material with the same name with the material you have in the family, then when you load the family in project it will use the material definition of the project.  Just go to the project > Manage > Materials, find the material of the chair and change its definition from black to blue.

A better approach is create a Material parameter in the family and assign it to the chair so that when you load it in the project you can assign any material to the chair.  For example you can have two same chairs but one is blue and one is red.

Thank you so much I fixed it.

On the "Material Bowser - Default Light Source" dialogue box, I noticed that the check box beside Use Render Appearance was unchecked, and had a yellow color, I just clicked on the box for the check mark to appear. And the color changed from yellow to blue, how I originally asigned it.

Is this the same procedure for all the cases? I just have to make sure the box is checked, for it to be the same as the family? blu chair fixed.png

That's totally different.  Use Render Appearance is just a graphic Display Property of the Material. It uses the color from the Appearance Tab if selected.

...plus, your in Realistic Mode which means it's using Appearance Tab settings anyways.

Yes if you check that box in the family then you should check that box in the project.  It is so that the material has the same color for both realistic view and shaded view.  Still, a safer bet is to define the material in project, and the safest bet is use a material parameter as described above.

I'm confused, I only wanted the chair to be the same color and material as in the original family I created. So I don't know if it is fixed? so there are 2 different ways ?
