Family is not of the correct category

I am trying to insert a Door-Curtain-wall-Double-Glass.rfa into my drawing

A pop-up reads, You are trying to lload the family door-curtain-wall-double glass which already exists in this projects. what do you want to do?

overwrite the existing version 

overwrite the existing version and its parameter values

if I choose either option I get the Family is not of the correct category error.

I am not sure how to correct this issue. Please help.

Curtain wall doors cannot insert in Project like regular doors.  If you use the Door tool, load family, open a Curtain Wall door family, load it into project, then it will not work.  Was that your process?

I've tried it many different ways. I try your suggestion and it still will not insert the door.....

How about you rename the family "Door-Curtain-wall-Double-Glass" in your project to "Door-Curtain-wall-Double-Glass-2", then drag and drop the correct family RFA file onto your project drawing window or the project browser?

Select the curtain panel where you want the door to be...then change the panel type in the properties to the curtain panel door.

The size is determined on where your curtain wall grids are located.

Curtain wall doors are not regular doors, and are not placed using the Door tool in the same way that regular doors are placed.

To place a curtain wall door, you must edit a curtain wall panel, and if the curtain wall door is loaded into your project is should appear as an available panel type.

I can't get the curtain wall doors to load at all....

Obviously it is already loaded if you get the message above.  But you have to select a curtain panel to change it to the curtain panel door.

You can load other versions by clicking the Insert Tab then Load Family.

Thank you for everyone that sent in "fixes" for my situation. I found that editing the type of curtain wall panel to a door fiexed the issue. A big thank you to mpwuzhere!!!

My families does not have any doors for loading into Families,ie. no curtain wall double glass doors for example

Click on Insert > Load from Library > Load Family. Open the Doors folder.
