EXTRACTING BACKGROUNDS in a Revit model?

Good day all… I was recently asked a question that I’m not familiar with and I’m asking for some help…

Has anyone have experience EXTRACTING BACKGROUNDS in a Revit model?

Would this be the same thing as creating and exporting a named group?

For use by a consultant who needs a 2D Cad file, you can export to several Cad formats from any view in Revit,

giving a 2D vector-based file.
