extending wall material below base of wall

I created a wall type to match an existing condition of project. It has a brick wainscot halfway up the wall with a soldier course on top of it.

I would like to extend the bottom of the brick down to the ground but I'm not sure of the best way to achieve this? When I go into the wall structure the "bottom" of the brick is greyed out so I can't change it. Wondering if I should just create a new brick wall below the facade and edit the profile. Or is there an easy way to extend the existing brick down?

On a side note, I  hope the join geometry command never works because I would drop dead from shock if it did. So if anyone's answer is to create a wall below, edit the profile, and then join geometry of the brick walls I will laugh.

Options for extending a wall's base:
1) The Attach Top/Base button, by clicking on Base option.

2) Negative base offset, and editing the profile.

3) Editing the Assembly, in section preview. Click on "Modify", later on outer boundary, and uncheck the lock.
This will give you a grip to change the extent of that layer of the wall separately.

Also, "Join geometry" tool automatically joins the layers you assign in Assembly based on their function. (It's the numbers that matter, not the description.)

However, if the layers are within the core boundary, they will cross other more important layers to join the core to the core.

Thanks arq_42. I had 2 issues with this solution that hopefully you or someone else can get me through.

1. At no time did I see a lock to unlock to allow me to drag the new layer down. and

2. This new layer, which I added outside the exterior core boundary, moved the whole wall in the thickness of the new layer. I want the new layer to be hanging out 3/4" past the floor so I can drag the new layer down over the floor sheathing. Note that I still want the dimensions to reflect the core boundary. Which I thought would happen by adding the new layer outside the core.

Yes and after reviewing that answer, Thank You for that, I was able to see how to get the lock to appear. But now I need to figure out how to make the rest of the wall remain in the original position with only the new layer protruding out. I added the new layer outside the exterior core boundary.

My result is that the whole wall moves back the thickness of the new layer so I can't drag it down over the floor sheathing.

I should add that my preference would be for dimensions to reference the core boundary, excluding the new layer, when this operation is complete.

When you create a wall, you can select the wall location line in the options bar.
This is an imaginary line that connects the two blue dots that appear when you select the wall.
This line will remain in place when you change the layer thicknesses in the assembly.

In your case, you should select "Core Face: Exterior" as the location line, and then modify the thickness of the exterior finish layer.

Thank You. I kind of figured that out after thinking about it. Guess I should employ my brain a little more before I bother people in the forum.
