Exported "Joined" walls from Revit to AutoCad.

Hello all,

I am currently in the process of moving our firm into Revit, however we still have some consultants that only work in Autocad.  Therefore, I am developing our Revit export settings to generate base plans in Autocad with our standards incorporated.  The goal is to develop this so that generating these base plans takes little to no extra time outside of Revit.

One nuance I am running into is exporting joined walls.  I have a 10" precast panel with window and door openings that I am joining a furring wall to.  When I export the floor plan, however, Autocad is not showing the line between the precast and furring, hence it looks like 1 large wall as opposed to a furring wall attached to my precast.  If I could, I would also like to try and maintain this division line in Revit if possible.  

Any help, suggestions, or work around would be appreciated.  I am trying to not have to manually draw these lines after exporting the file to CAD.

My test shows the line between the two joined walls in CAD the same as in Revit.

Did you use the "Join Geometry" command to join the walls or is this a wall type which includes your furring?  The reason I ask is that your window is shown in your furring wall.  Per our standards of construction we would be installing that window into the precast and then the furring wall would be framed out to accommodate the window opening.

Please refer to my attachment to help clarify the condition I am referring to.

The division line between the precast and furring disappears in Revit, hence it does not get exported to CAD.  I would like to maintain this line while generating my cut out lines in the furring, representing where our window openings are.

I used Jon Geometry two different walls.

I see no lines in between your joined walls.  If the line is not there in Revit, how would you expect to see it in CAD?

Any idea why when I join my walls I am loosing that line? Are there join geometry settings that I may be unaware of?

You need to give a different hatch pattern to one of the two walls.

Edit: if you do not want the hatch, use white color (solid or other pattern doesn't matter).

My detail level was set to course.  By changing it to Medium I am able to see that line.  This will require tweaking of my other elements to ensure they display correctly while in a more detailed view, but solves my problem. Thank you!

Be aware that changing the Detail to Medium may add too much detail to the exported CAD files. But your call.

Or you can change only Wall category to Medium and keep the rest Coarse.
