Export revit to autocad

Hi,

One of my co-workers has often the situation where he works paralell on Revit and on Autocad.
Revit: for creating the model and the main part of the sheets
Autocad: mainly for the situation plan with all the area around.

this is his workflow:

- export the sheet as dwg/dxf
- import it as xref to Autocad

the view is not updated by itself but he always has to re-export the fileS!

Is there a way this could be done with less clicks or maybe completely automated?

Hi

In short... maybe... by LINKING the CAD file instead of IMPORTING. Give that a shot... if the DWG is updated, I believe you can reload the same DWG file if the naming is the same. I personally haven't done this...

I personally do not understand the workflow between Revit and AutoCAD in your situation....

If the sheets and documentation are all setup through Revit... why do you need AutoCAD to do floor plans?

I would understand if your firm is using REVIT just as a 3D representation or for simple rendering...

To make it simple... I suggest doing everything in Revit or AutoCAD.

I am looking for a faster way to export a sheet in Revit and import it to Autocad.

The other way round woorks exately how your described it by linking a .dxf into Revit. a Simple "save" in Autocad and a right click inside Revit on the link and then "update" gives you the updatedt version of the cad file in Revit.

the model is created in Revit but the sheet with all the suroundings ( street, other buildings, coordiantes ) is still produced by Autocad. This is purely 2D so Autocad is way faster. Besides we are at the beginning of our Revit journey so for now it is a mixture of both.
