Hello all,

I created a family which contains some Model lines. Is it possible to export these lines in IFC ?

Thank you in advance!

While export, click on modify setup>>additional content>> check the box beside "Export 2D plan view elements"

What about when you open the file independently using open tool? At my side it shows when I open the file but don't show when I link it.

also are you linking it to Revit or to another program?

When I open the file it is the same, I cannot see the model lines..

I would like to be visible when I link / open the IFC File. I need the families for a demonstration in Revizto too.

Thank you!

To my knowledge, the option mentioned above is intended for symbolic lines which exist in 2D space … Model Line are lines that exist in 3D space...When exporting to IFC, 3D space elements (in this case the model lines) need to be a solid geometry.

If the model lines in the family are intended for graphic representation of say a door swing, it can be exported to IFC best if:

  1. those lines are converted to symbolic lines
  2. and the "Export 2D plan view elements" is checked

Edit: Model lines do export to IFC format in 2D view but for some reason they sometimes snap out of position when exported with "Export 2D plan view elements" is checked...therefore, the above conversion
