Export Camera View to Max

Hello,

I have clicked 'show camera' in my locked camera view in Revit. This brings up the camera menu as posted in this link: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/search-result/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2017/ENU/FlameAssist/files/GUI...

Even so, I cannot find the button to export the camera.

I wish to render in max the exact views I have created in Revit. I hope that this is possible as I need to then overlay the linework from Revit.

Thank you.

I am now wondering if this is the right forum for this question.

Has anyone used this workflow?

I am aware. This is a Revit-based issue.

Thanks for the link to the tutorial. I have no issues with this workflow between the two programs; however, the camera export is what I am trying to achieve. Especially since Autodesk promotes interoperability between the two programs.

I get that. I wasn't inferring anything.  Are you exporting Revit data in FBX format?  Was the Link I provided not on point?

@barthbradley - yes, the link was helpful. Thank you.

I solved the issue and realized that the Revit views are only transferred to max via linking a .RVT file rather than an .FBX.

V-Ray users will not like this as it imports the Revit views as Free Cameras in Max; however, I am using Arnold so it seems to work fine so far.

Thanks for your correspondence.

Hi @ebroberg

Attached is a pdf for Revit to 3ds Max  from AU - a Workflow which describes how to:

  • Effectively set up models in Revit for transfer to 3ds Max.
  • Set up a direct link between Revit and 3ds Max.
  • Manage lighting, cameras, and materials inside of 3ds Max.
  • Render “Photo-Realistic” renderings with NVIDIA Iray.

Hope this is helpful.

Regards,
