Revit 2009 will not work, you are on Windows 10

Only work arounds are the following:

  1. Downgrade to Windows 8/8.1
  2. If you have Windows 10 Pro; download Virtual Machine and install windows 8/8.1 (will require a a windows 8/8.1 license)
  3. Upgrade to a later version of Revit (however you should know Autodesk till date does not provide support on Windows 10 and that you may be experiencing installation problems when installing Autodesk Products in general on windows 10 - it will eventually work - most cases posted on the forum has been resolved; however, its a bumpy road)

You are trying to open a program that was built for Windows XP and Windows Vista.  The program doesn't know about all the .Net features of Windows 10 and anything else that has been updated since then.

What I would suggest is modifying the shortcut for Revit 2009 and change the compatibility mode settings to work with Windows Vista and possibly disable display scaling on high DPI settings.

Other than that, good luck on getting support since technically 2016 isn't supported on Windows 10.  But....I was able to get Revit 3.0 to work on my Windows 7 machine...so it may be possible.
